গত ২৫-৩১ জানুয়ারী ২০১৭ সর্বকালের সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ বাঙালি স্বাধীনতার মহানায়ক জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবর রহমানের জন্মস্থান গোপালগঞ্জ জেলার টুঙ্গি পাড়ায় একাদশ তম জাতীয় রোভার মুট অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়। একাদশ তম জাতীয় রোভার মুট -এর মূল্য প্রতিপাদ্য বিষয় ছিল ‘শান্তিময় জীবন উন্নত দেশ’। অনুষ্ঠানটি উদ্ভোধন করেন গনপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ সরকারের মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা । সারা দেশের কলেজ, মাদ্রাসা, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ও মুক্তদল থেকে ১৭-২৫ বছর বয়সী প্রায় ১০ হাজার রোভার স্কাউট অনুষ্ঠানে অংশগ্রহণ করেন। যুবদের সুনাগরিক রূপে গড়ে তোলার লক্ষ্যে সারা দেশ থেকে ৮০টি সরকারি ও বেসরকারি সহযোগিতা সংগঠন ও প্রতিষ্ঠান এই মিলন মেলায় তাদেও কর্মসূচি ও কার্যক্রম প্রদর্শন করেন।

বাংলাদেশ অ্যাডভেন্টিষ্ট ইউনিয়ন মিশন-এর পক্ষ থেকে যুব ও মহিলা পরিচর্যা বিভাগ একাদশ রোভারমুট মেলায় অংশগ্রহন করেন এবং জন সচেতনতামূলক কার্যক্রম প্রচার ও প্রদর্শন করেন। রোভারমুটে অ্যাডভেন্টিষ্ট যুব ও মহিলা পরিচর্যা বিভাগের সেবাধর্মী কার্যক্রম কেবল আকর্ষণীয় ও শিক্ষাপ্রদই ছিলনা, বরং সকলের কাছেই প্রসংশিত হয়েছে এবং পারস্পারিক শুভেচ্ছা বিনিময়ের মাধ্যমে আমাদের কার্যক্রমটি সকল মানুষের অন্তরে গ্রহণযোগ্যতা পেয়েছে। কবি গুরু রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের ভাষায়, “চলো যাই কাজে, মানব সমাজে, চল বাহিরিয়া জগতের মাঝে”। স্বপ্নের সোনার বাংলাদেশ গড়ার পথে এগিয়ে যাক আমাদের ঐত্যিহবাহী ও গৌরবময় সেভেন্ট-ডে অ্যাডভেন্টিস্ট প্রতিষ্ঠানটি।

The Bangladesh Children Sponsorship Services (BCSS) conducted a Medical-Dental Camp for the students of Kellog-Mookerjee Memorial Seminary (KMMS) on March 16-17, 2017. This particular activity was funded by Asian Aid (Aus), ADRA Czek Republic and Asian Aid (USA). As outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC, 1989); every Child has the right to life, survival with health. The earlier detection of any abnormalities or health problems and correct timing of management of the problem is very crucial for every human’s life. Given this and bearing in mind to align Child Rights and Protection activity with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)3 which is centered on ‘ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages’, BCSS endeavors to conduct yearly school medical check-up to our boarding schools to help diagnose and monitor the health problems timely and help to improve the health of students.The expected outcome of this health check-up arebetter growth and development; improve school attendance; and, better academic performance. Moreover, health-check-up helps ensure children’s longer and better life. Furthermore, blood tes can help to determine susceptibility to certain diseases and ailments as well as give idea of how medication will affect people or whether one is a carrier of a less than desirable genetic trait. Every individual should be aware of own blood group.In this connection, blood grouping was done for each student.

Dr. Robert Rema and his wife, Dr. ShomaRema for medical check-up; • Dr. Helen Rema who headed the 11 members of the Dental Team through her collaboration with City Dental College of Dhaka and Dunn &Leivesly Cosmetic & General Dentistry; • BAUM Health Ministries Dept. for providing one worker to lead the biometric, blood pressure, blood sugar services; • BAUM Education and Youth Dept. for providing two volunteers for blood grouping services. Children are so valuable to God that He commands us to protect them (1Sam. 20:42; Ezra 8:21). They are our precious resources. They will be the pillars of our church, community and nation. Hence, we need to place importance in protecting them from any physical, emotional, social and neglect.

ADRA-CZECH Republic-Bangla Kids Program বাংলাদেশের Seventh-Day Adventist School-এর সবিধা বঞ্চিত ছাত্র/ছাত্রীদের জন্য উৎসর্গকৃতভাবে একনিষ্ঠ হয়ে কাজ করে যাচ্ছেন। এবার তাদের কার্যক্রম পর্যবেক্ষণের দলের পক্ষ থেকে GAPS স্কুলের শিক্ষক/শিক্ষিকাবৃন্দ এবং শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে আন্তরিক সুসম্পর্কের বহিঃপ্রকাশ তাদেরকে অভিভূত করেছে। এমন কি CZECH দলের ভালোবাসার চোখের জল তার স্বাক্ষ্য দেয়।GAPS-এর শিক্ষক/শিক্ষিকাবৃন্দ এবং শিক্ষার্থীদের সুসম্পর্কের বৈশিষ্ট্যগুলো হল- স্বাগত অনুষ্ঠানে দেশের ঐতিহ্য তুলে ধরে কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ, বাংলা ভাষার প্রতি বিনম্র শ্রদ্ধা অন্যতম। তাছাড়াও শিক্ষার্থীদের সঙ্গে একত্রে কাজ করা, খেলাধূলা, এমনকি একসঙ্গে পুকুরে সাঁতার কাটা ইত্যাদিও সুসম্পর্কের একটি প্রানবন্ত চিত্র যা সত্যিই প্রশংসনীয়।

এ স্কুলের অনেক শিক্ষার্থীদের সাক্ষাতকারে জানা গেল যে তাদের সবচেয়ে দুঃখের মুহুর্ত হল- তাদের সপ্তম শ্রেণীর বন্ধুদের বিদায় নিয়ে অন্য স্কুলে চলে যাওয়ার ক্ষণটি। সপ্তম শ্রেণীর পাশ করা শিক্ষর্থীদের যেমন স্কুল ছেড়ে চলে যাওয়ার কষ্ট, তেমনি স্কুলের অন্য শিক্ষার্থী এবং শিক্ষক/শিক্ষিকাদেরও তাদের বিদায় জানানো তাদের জন্য একটি অত্যন্ত কষ্টকর মুহুর্ত। আর একে অপরের জন্য তাদের এই আকুলতায় প্রমাণ করে তাদের মধ্যকার বিদ্যমান এক গভীর সুসম্পর্কের কথা। তাছাড়াও তাদের মধ্যে একে অপরের সঙ্গে সুসমপর্কের ফলে স্কুলের Sponsorship Drop শিক্ষার্থীর সংখ্যা তুলনামূলক কম। তাদের আনন্দের মুহুর্তগুলি শিক্ষক/শিক্ষিকাদের একতা, তাদের সহযোগিতা এবং ভালোবাসায় সুস্পষ্ট। তাদের অনেকের সাক্ষাতকারে এও প্রতিয়মান হয় যে শিক্ষার্থীদের শিক্ষক/শিক্ষিাদের সান্নিধ্য সর্বদা অনুপ্রাণিত করে। শিক্ষার্থীরা স্বাছন্দ্যে শিক্ষক/শিক্ষিকাদের না বুঝা বিষয়গুলি প্রশ্ন করে শিখে নিতে পারে এবং শ্রেণী কক্ষের বাহিরেও তাদের শিক্ষার জন্য সাহায্যের হাত বাড়িয়ে দেওয়া খুবই প্রশংসনীয় এবং উল্লেখযোগ্য। সর্বোপরী, মিশন কর্তৃপক্ষের সার্বিক সাহায্য ও সহযোগিতা এবং ঈশ্বরের আশীর্বাদের জন্য আমরা কৃতজ্ঞ।

Mar 6, Dhaka airport: “Welcome to Bangladesh! Finally we meet each other!” On the first Monday of March, ADRA Bangladesh greeted 19 welcome guests from South Korea. They came to Bangladesh as a Korean Volunteer Team member. Most of them are working at Sahmyook Foods which is an Adventist food company and very popular in South Korea for producing healthy and delicious food item. Sahmyook Foods encourages their employees to do volunteer service, and sends at least 1 overseas volunteer team every year. Since last autumn, ADRA Korea had coordinated this company’s 2017 Volunteer schedule by online. ADRA Bangladesh and Bangladesh Adventist Union Mission(B.A.U.M) helped a lot and gave useful advices. In the airport, Dr. Myun Ju Lee(B.A.U.M president), Stifan Baidya(ADRA Bangladesh Finance Controller), and other ADRA staff prepared beautiful garlands and gave it to the each one of Korean Volunteer Team. It was really warm-welcoming, so everybody became very happy. Mar 7-10, TCEP, CMCDP, CSCDP, OCCMSP and DAPS campus: From next day, Korean Volunteer Team started their service early in the morning. They woke up about 5:30, worshiped at 5:50, had breakfast at 6:30 and then were ready to go to the field. They divided their team, Building Team and Medical Team. Building Team had 9 members and they worked only for the TCEP. Medical Team had 10 members and they worked at 4 ADRA Projects in Dhaka city. Building Team did very good jobs for TCEP renovation. Their main work was laying bricks to make the special space for helping children to avoid rain, so that they can do their morning assembly even in the raining season. Building Team also painted the main gate, computer lap, and other small buildings. Every wall was colored by nice light-blue color like the sky. Korean Volunteer Team wishes that children can dream their future more in this beautiful building.

Medical Team was busy to visit different ADRA projects day by day. They are experts at acupuncture and no matter who comes, whether children or adult, what kind of pain they had, Medical Team treated the patient with their best. As a result, Total 554 people were benefited from 4 ADRA projects(226 people in Tongi, 169 people in Chalantika, 149 people in Mirpur-9). Children, their family members and other community members were so appreciated and really hope that Volunteer Team will come again. On March 10, there was Int’l Beauty & Health Expo in Dhaka Adventist Pre-seminary School(DAPS) campus. Korean Volunteer Team gathered altogether again and helped each other to serve more people who lives near DAPS. All the members tried to treat people as many as they can. It was a very intensive and successful volunteer week.

Mar 11-12, Time to say good-bye: Time passed very soon, so it became the time to farewell Korean Volunteer Team. During their work, volunteers asked a lot about Bangladesh. They wanted to know about Bangladesh because they could see challenges and hopes in everywhere they went. One Korean volunteer said, “I think I can do something more for Bangladesh people”. Yes, we expect many other people in the world also think like that and support Bangladesh with their time, money and heart. Then we can make our earth brighter and warmer!
